Planning & Quality are the point of reference for the customers and the operators of the body. In this area, all the procedures for the management and issuance of a certification are activated: here all efforts are focused on achieving total quality and satisfying customer needs. There are experts specializing in compliance management and assessment systems which depend solely on the Quality Manager: the management system is based on the ISO/IEC 17065 and 17025 standards.
The staff working in this department are responsible for informing the customer about the certification, following it in their needs, establishing with him a constant relationship of trust and trust. Through the IT infrastructure, the operator can know at any time technical and administrative data regarding the state of the equipment being tested, as well as regulatory updates, measurement instrument status, relationships with institutes and suppliers.
If carried out by studying and respecting procedural standards, this step allows the staff of the various departments to miss out on false paths to focus on one single direction leading to certification, with relative time and cost benefits. Distributed on an area of about 150 square meters, there are specialized test engineers in carrying out all gas appliance tests and in particular those required for the conformity assessment required to certify gas appliances according to Regulation (UE) 2016/426. The building was built with the regulatory criteria regarding the safety of locals and workers by providing risk areas with specific detection and extinguishing systems. To address these issues, prevention has been of great importance by providing hazardous material storage away from work areas; in this case, the drops of the test gases are connected with the outer tanks in order to reduce the risk of explosion and fire. Equipped with the most modern and sophisticated equipment, this section is the flagship of the entire company, boasting the great staff experience in testing the products meticulously respecting the most specific regulations. In this area, a wide range of equipment is tested, whether for domestic, community or industry applications, based on the requirements of specific product standards. The staff, assisted by instrumentation in every situation to the maximum of potentials, is able to pass with great ease from the testing of cooking hobs to pizza ovens for collective use, as well as from heating stoves to gas heated fyers.
Strong knowledge of the issues related to the interpretation of the rules and their respect, the technicians in this section can guarantee to the customer the respect of all the production process aimed at achieving total quality, proposing it also by minimizing the times and costs. Receive product information to be tested by Planning Engineers assisted by the Laboratory Director decide on test methods, and with the help of the Instruments Manager choose the most suitable instrument to use.
The regulatory updates are screened by an internal committee made up of the Director of the Notified Body, the Lab Director and the Quality Manager and shared with the specialized tests engineers to be transmitted and used in the operating environment in the shortest possible time. The strength of the body is also the availability of the operators in terms of their training, following training courses, study of standards, as well as practical testing of instruments and equipment. Among the equipment used in this department are only mentioned: CO, CO2, NOx analyzers, flow meters, differential pressure gauges, temperature recorders.
Some of the equipment has been specially built by qualified suppliers following the constructional features described in the standards, for example: combustion probes, pots and test hoods, blowers for abnormal operation tests. The instrumentation used follows an annual calibration program as provided by the management system and each operator has the duty to ensure the ordinary control of the equipment used and also has the obligation to notify the Responsible Instruments of the failure or the possible failures encountered.
This department is essentially an electrical testing department which can proceed in synergy with the gas testing department in the case of mixing and testing on mixed devices (gas and electricity fed).
The electrical testing department, with specialized test engineers, is equipped with tools and equipment to carry out the necessary tests to verify the conformity of the product with the requirements of Directive 2014/35/UE (LVD).
Among the instruments included are: high resolution multimeters, digital temperature recorders and accessories for overheating tests, isolation gauges and dielectric rigidity, voltage regulator for abnormal use tests. Also, as with the instruments used in the gas department, they follow the calibration program dictated by the quality manual.
A departmental area is equipped with a rainstorm room with a digital temperature and humidity controller for checking and evaluating the degree of protection of the enclosures. The possibility to correlate the electrical tests prescribed by LVD and those of EMC electromagnetic compatibility offer the customer the ability to market a product tested with the most stringent and comprehensive safety and performance criteria, to guarantee and protect consumer rights.
As required by certain European Directives and Regulations following certification, the manufacturer must demonstrate its validity through the surveillance of production carried out by a Notified Body.
Flam Gas Laboratories is able to meet this need by providing these activities according to the (EU) Regulation 2016/426: Module C2 and F.
Qualified inspectors and experts in quality and management systems are available to evaluate, at the manufacturer's premises, the correct application of the quality and control systems adopted to maintain production aligned with the certification obtained.
Depending on customer agreements, Flam Gas Laboratories inspectors may be required to evaluate only the aspects of certification maintenance for the scope envisaged by the Module chosen by the customer, or they may be concerned with an overall assessment of the quality management system adopted.
